After a month off Southern Cross Roofing is back and ready to start blogging again! Its heating up here in Sydney and the crowds are heading to the beaches while we are working hard on our projects.

It has been frequently communicated how talented our team is with slate roof tiles and this project in Strathfield is a great example of that. This roof required us to strip back and install slate roof tiles. It was a complicated process that included grading slate into four categories (clumps, thick, medium, thin). One of the clients aesthetic requests was that the tiles match the carport. Additionally there were financial considerations from the client which led us to choose the second hand welsh slates.

Despite the fact that the slate is second hand, it is very good material. Our Director Mark Webster has travelled to Wales to observe the manufacturing process of the Welsh slate to ensure its authenticity and we can assure you, he was impressed! Welsh Slate is considered to be some of the strongest in the world but with this is can be quite pricey. This is why we provide the option for second hand roof tiles. We stock a number of second hand roof tiles and we also provide a large variety of options. We try to accommodate to as many financial and aesthetic preferences as we can. It is extremely rare that we do not have an option that the client is happy to agree with.
